Conference Cycle on the Valorisation of Agro-Food By-Products Brings Together International Experts at UMa

On 13 April 2026, the University of Madeira (UMa) hosted a conference cycle on the theme “Add value to agriculture and food chain by-products”, integrated into the fourth training action of the European project isUP-AgrO – Unlocking the Potential for Agricultural Research on an EU Outmost Region: boosting ISOPlexis Centre. The initiative featured researchers from the University of Parma, strategic partners of the project. The conference cycle included the following presentations: “UNIPR presentation and research lines at the Department of Food and Drug, Food Chemistry Unit”, “Protein recovery from agro-industrial residues: European funded case studies”, “Ten years of research on dietary fibre at UNIPR”, and “Insect bioconversion of food by-products”.

These sessions addressed the latest European research trends in the valorisation of agro-food by-products, focusing on innovative and sustainable solutions for the agricultural and food chain sectors.

Coordinated by the University of Madeira, the isUP-AgrO project aims to consolidate ISOPlexis as a European reference in applied research for Sustainable Agriculture and Food Technology.

This initiative reinforces the project’s commitment to scientific excellence, innovation, and knowledge transfer, contributing to the advancement of research in sustainable agriculture.
