Conference Series on Bioinformatics and Data Analysis

On 20 July 2026, the University of Madeira (UMa) hosted a conference series on Bioinformatics and Data Analysis, as part of the training activities of the European project isUP-AgrO – Unlocking the Potential for Agricultural Research on an EU Outermost Region: boosting ISOPlexis Centre.

The initiative brought together researchers from the University of Parma (Italy), partners of the project. The programme featured the conferences "Bioinformatics and Molecular Modelling in Food Science", presented by Professor Luca Dellafiora and Researcher Lorenzo Pedroni, and "Omics Approaches to Studying Plant Interactions with Emerging Contaminants: A Case Study on Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS)", presented by Researcher Sophia Luche.

The sessions explored the application of bioinformatics tools, molecular modelling, and omics technologies to food science research and the study of plant interactions with emerging contaminants, highlighting innovative methodologies with the potential to advance research in sustainable agriculture, food safety, and agricultural sciences.

Coordinated by the University of Madeira, the isUP-AgrO project aims to strengthen the ISOPlexis Centre as a European reference in applied research on Sustainable Agriculture and Food Technology.

This initiative reinforces the isUP-AgrO project's commitment to promoting scientific excellence, innovation, and knowledge transfer by providing the academic and scientific community with the opportunity to engage with international experts and explore the latest developments in bioinformatics and data analysis applied to agricultural research.
