Presentation of the Staff Exchange Training Activities – Smart Crops Irrigation Technologies and Strategies
On July 17, 2025, researchers from the ISOPlexis Centre – Humberto Nóbrega and Nuno Nunes – held a presentation session for fellow Centre members, highlighting the main training activities carried out during the Staff Exchange at the Institute of Natural Resources and Agrobiology of Seville (IRNAS-CSIC).
The mission to IRNAS-CSIC was an excellent opportunity to deepen knowledge in crop ecophysiology and water stress management. During the stay, participants attended presentations on projects, which addressed topics like plant growth under water stress, innovative irrigation estimation methods for orchards, and root adaptation mechanisms in dry soils.
They visited the laboratories, where they were introduced to advanced techniques and equipment such as psychrometers, Scholander chambers, leaf sensors, dendrometers, and the CaviCam 2.0 system. The visit also included the in vitro collection and the processes for crop genetic identification.
Field visits provided insight into the practical application of the technologies and approaches discussed.
Overall, this staff exchange offered a clearer understanding of effective water management strategies in agricultural systems, while also enhancing the participants’ practical and scientific skills.
It was a highly valuable experience that will certainly strengthen the work carried out at the ISOPlexis Centre and further reinforce collaboration with the partners of the isUP-AgrO project. ISOPlexis Center e estreitar ainda mais a colaboração com os parceiros do projeto isUP-AgrO.
